…towards a peaceful tomorrow

Amity University, Uttar Pradesh organized its first Model United Nations conference, AMIMUN’11 (Amity International Model United Nations 2011) in collaboration with UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan from 24-26 February, 2011. The conference aimed at stepping forward “towards a peaceful tomorrow”. It simulated five councils, namely, the Security Council (UNSC), the General Assembly-II (ECOFIN), the General Assembly-III (SOCHUM), the Human Rights Council (HRC) and the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD). Each council debated on global issues relevant to their function to seek constructive solutions to the same. AMIMUN’11 witnessed total participation of over 200 students from over 30 colleges around the globe including delegates from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Singapore. To reward the best MUNer’s, cash prizes worth over Rs 50,000 were also given.
